Year 4                         (Match reports by Dominic Egan)

All Saints                     v          Rushey Green                        Lost     0-1

All Saints were unlucky to lose a close-fought match against the league leaders. A confident Rushey Green side pressed from the start, but were unable to break down a spirited All Saints team in which everyone played their part. Despite some very robust tackling from Rushey Green, All Saints refused to be intimidated and, as time passed, came more and more into the game. While their opponents relied on kick and rush(ey), All Saints sought to play a more cultured game.

Just when it looked as if All Saints would secure a well-earned draw, Rushey Green won the game with a disputed goal, their striker scoring after the ball appeared to strike his hand. Despite their obvious disappointment, All Saints accepted the referee’s decision and got on with the game. However, there was too little time left to find an equaliser.

Tidemill                        v          All Saints         Won     0-1

In this Friendly fixture, All Saints battled hard in the first half against a Tidemill side that recently beat them 2-0 in the league. Again, the entire team put in a great effort, with Robert and Dan doing stalwart work in defence. On the right wing, Ertan did some great runs and, in midfield, James forced Tidemill’s goalkeeper into action with a fantastic long-range shot.

In the second half, a much-changed All Saints side took control of the game, playing their best football of the season so far. There was some lovely passing and excellent teamwork. Marauding up from defence, Robert was a constant threat and eventually broke the deadline with a tidy finish after Daniel had picked him out in a crowded penalty area. But for some errant finishing, the score line would have been more emphatic.
